Newbie Here.

I am new to this site and actually only had my first appointment with Sophia and Dr. Buchin today.  For the first time in years I have hope that I can lose weight with the help of bariatric surgery.  I truly was comforted by the confidence shown by both Sophia and Dr. Buchin and I have to mention that the office staff was so nice.  Coming to the decision to move forward with this life change has not been an easy one and I have this is not a cure but this is simply a tool in the process of losing weight.  I know that the information I have gotten from the internet is mostly cut and dry clinical stuff so I am here on this board hoping to connect with people who are going through the process of getting approved and cleared for surgery and with people who have had the bypass surgery and are now living a new way of life. I am nervous yet excited to start getting evals scheduled and completed.  My journey is just beginning wish me well.

Welcome to the path Newbie!    You are now part of a brotherhood and sisterhood here at Dr. B's office.   Your family and we are all here to help you.   It's a long path, sometimes a hard path, but it's one worth traveling.    Some of us are far ahead of you, some of us are already at the end of it, and soon there will be others on the path behind you.   We all have things to teach, things to learn, things to share and wisdom to impart.   Ask questions, ask for help, and help those you can when you are further along on the path.   That's what make this works.  We are a community, and now you are part of it.

 I am new to this and very nervous. I am thinking about having the lap band done and will be attending the meeting next week. I do not know what to expect in all of this and hope that I can get all the information I need to answer the questions that I have.
