Hello My name is Summer.  I am 32 years old. I am interested in getting the gastric bypass surgery.  Basically, I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone on here.  I did attend the seminar/support group yesterday 12/8/09.  I learned a lot and was amazed by everyones weight loss.  I really want to congratulate everyone who did get surgery and lost weight.  I am in the beginning stages.  I have about 3 months to go!  If anyone wants to talk I am here!  Thanks again!

Looks like this will be quite a year for you.  You are on a difficult path, but a wonderful one, a path to a whole new life free from shame, physical pain and obesity.   We'll all try to help you along, support you when you stumble, comfort you when you cry, celebrate with you in your victorys.   We're sort of a family here.

Good Luck, Happy New Year.

So great to hear.  This is a really close knit (most times) community of people who truly and wholeheartedly support and help each other.  All here have been on the journey and will be able to help you with insight, encouragement, and support whenever you need it.  Of course I only speak for myself, but that has been my experience here.  Oh and by the way Sophia is the greatest, as well as Dr.Buchin of course, and the complete staff ...... basically everyone.

Good luck on your continued journey towards your life goals.

Hi all...

I am going to the pulmonologist on Thursday, and hopefully I will get my last letter of approval.  I am still so psyched, even though I had a rough winter (emotionally and physically)

I was wondering if you can give me the next step.  Do I just get everything in order and then call Sophia for a date?  I am not sure.  I cant wait to be more healthier and feel better about myself.  Also, I hope that someone out there will be there for me emotionally.
Thanks!  Grin

PLEASE HELP!!

At the point of getting my last clearance letter I already had a date.

Haven't you been in an ongoing dialog with Sophia?

She is the best (most amazing) source for information available in that respect.
Definitely contact her and get all the information from all your doctors to her.

There were times when I was (almost literally) banging my head against the wall trying to get all my ducks in a row.  Sophia is a rock; she is calming and reassuring when you need it.  Her face is last face I saw as I went under on the table.  It made is easier.  I don't know about the others here (that's not exactly true since we all are pretty open) but I was ready to run out all the way up to and including the moment I got on the table.  But that’s just me.  Seeing her there after all the help she gave me helped me get on the table and seeing her at the follow exams and meetings it great as well.
In fact I need a Sophia fix.
So next (and frequent) step is check in with Sophia!  She gets a little overwhelmed at times (I would imagine) but she will always make time for you.
Dr. Buchin and Sophia are like the dynamic duo of bariatric surgery!!!  Except Sophia is more like Wonder Woman than Robin, and Dr. Buchin is more like Superman than Batman.  Well you get the idea ... somewhere out there are comic boot caricatures of both of them, wearing capes!

Good luck and see you around some time
