Is it just me?

An interesting thing happened the other day and I have very mixed emotions about it. I was at the end of a meeting with one of my clients and my boss. The business part was done and we were chatting. He proceeded to compliment me on how great I was looking now that I have lost so much weight and he said to my boss - "If I wasn't married, I would ask her out for a drink". We all laughed but the more I thought about it, the more annoyed I got. #1 - I am the same person on the inside that I was before. #2 - Who is he to think that he is so special? - he is at least 50lbs overweight himself and no spring chicken. I know that I am being unrealistic to expect people, guys especially, to see past the pounds and see someone for who they really are, but I have known this guys for four years! Why is it okay for guys to be overweight and they still see themselves as macho sexy guys but their women must be thin? Think Alec Baldwin in "Its Complicated". Or go to a beach and see all these guys with big bellies strutting around while the heavier women are covered up. Or the magazines taking pix of and making derogatory comments about women stars with a little extra weight i.e. Jessica Simpson (I should only look so fat) while the male stars can look any which way and get a free pass.
I probably know the answers to all these things but it still gets to me.

Guys always see themselves as better looking than we are, it's our blessing.
Woman always see themselves as worse looking than they actually are. it's their curse.
